Cross-training day #janathon

Monday was a run rest day, mainly because my legs felt beat up a little from the long run yesterday. Instead I cycled approx 33kms commuting to the pool to coach but also to my local pool for a session which, unexpectedly has left my whole body feeling beat up this morning (Tuesday). However I would do the set again as it was doable without making me feel wholly inadequate as a swimmer. After a 400m warm up I did 10 x 150m as 100m pull with paddles and pull buoy at moderate-hard pace, + 50 sprint with fins, + 100 swim at moderate pace, + 50 sprint with fins. Rest periods only to change equipment.

Today I woke late and now have to pay the price of running with the sun up and the day warming to its 33 degree high. On the positive side it is slightly overcast so if the clouds keep hiding the sun it will not be as brutal.

This morning as I went to feed the chooks I startled a heron in the backyard which I am choosing to take as a good omen.2013-01-15 09.43.32
