I am at the tail end of the baby boomers and already I am forgetting words, running slower, swimming slower, and being treated as fragile by the marine and the scientist, my kids. So 2011 is going to be all about turning the tide. Cripes I am not even 60; not time to be written off yet!
2010 was where aspiration did not meet expectation; 6 hours for my first marathon did not match the 4 and a half to five hours expected. In spite of that it was a good year; travel, teaching, coaching, grandkids, an ocean swim, a triathlon – it was fun. 2011 is going to be better; another marathon trained for properly, more swimming with another ocean swim in mind (difficult where I live because of the box jelly fish) and a couple of mental challenges – to unlock the mysteries of photoshop and to gain some proficiencies in creating infographics. When done well they are beautiful and satisfying artefacts of social and personal reportage.
And strumming away in the background my two passions, teaching English Lit and Communications, and swim coaching. Life is full and 2011 will make it awesome.
Here’s to a great 2011, and wishing you all the best with Janathon! 🙂
